Overview

Wildly Bookish is an early-learning brand founded by a 30-year educator and librarian, offering Pre-K workbooks and reading journals designed to build foundational skills writing, math, cutting, and reading readiness in children ages 3 to 5. The founder wanted to sell her workbook series in two formats: an instant PDF download for parents who want resources right away, and a printed edition on Amazon for families who prefer a physical book in hand. On top of the store itself, she needed a lead-generation funnel to grow her email list ahead of future launches.

The brand's voice warm, credible, and rooted in real classroom experience needed to come through in every part of the site, not just the product descriptions.

Challenge

Selling the same product in two different formats through two different systems is deceptively hard to make feel simple:

1. Dual fulfillment paths Shopify natively handles physical inventory well, but this store needed to sell no physical inventory directly only PDFs, plus a pass-through to Amazon for print copies without confusing customers about what they were actually buying.

2. No file-delivery system in place PDFs needed to be delivered securely and instantly after purchase, without manual emailing or shared folder links.

3. No email marketing connected The founder had a completed lead magnet (a "Family Scavenger Hunt Bundle") but no way to collect emails, deliver the freebie automatically, or nurture new subscribers afterward.

4. A site that needed polish, not a rebuild The bones were there collections, product structure, branding but small UX gaps were undermining an otherwise trustworthy brand.

Our Solution

To overcome these challenges, we built out the Wildly Bookish storefront with the following considerations:

PDF downloadable books: Configured each workbook as a Shopify digital product using a digital-delivery app, so customers receive a secure, instant download link by email immediately after checkout no manual fulfillment, no physical SKU, no shipping settings to manage.

Amazon Links for Physical Copies: Built a consistent dual-button pattern on every product card and product page, so a customer self-selects their preferred format in one click instead of being funneled into a format they don't want, such as:

"Amazon" button routed through trackable affiliate links.

"Buy PDF" button for instant digital checkout.

Consistent placement across every product card.

Clear format labeling so customers self-select confidently.

Website polish & UX improvements: Refined the homepage narrative to lead with the founder's story and credibility before asking for a sale, added a clear three-point trust section, and tightened product card copy so the value of each workbook is obvious at a glance rather than requiring a click-through.

Mailerlite setup with free giveaway integration: Connected MailerLite directly to Shopify and built an embedded signup block on the homepage offering the free Family Scavenger Hunt Bundle in exchange for a first name and email, positioned with clear, no-pressure copy.

Email signup automation: Built an automated welcome flow in MailerLite so every new subscriber instantly receives their free PDF bundle without any manual follow-up, tagged new signups for future segmentation, and set up the footer newsletter block as a second, always-on capture point across the entire site.

Shopify customizations & integrations

Bringing the solution to life on the storefront involved:

Custom dual CTA layout: "Amazon" + "Buy PDF" built into the theme's product-loop template.

Homepage sections reordered and rewritten: around a founder-story-first narrative.

Trust/credibility module: added above the fold with icons and short-form copy.

Digital product handling configured store-wide: no shipping fields, instant delivery messaging.

Footer newsletter capture: added as a persistent, site-wide signup point.

MailerLite integration: embedded signup form, tagging, and automated delivery of the lead magnet.

Digital Downloads app: secure, automatic PDF delivery post-purchase.

Amazon Affiliate links: trackable outbound links for physical book sales.

Instagram: social link integrated into header and footer for cross-channel discovery.
